When Will Our Building Be Open Again For Worship?

The answer to that questions is: I don’t know.

First of all, at the time I am writing this, the province is not allowing gatherings. At this point that will be until the end of June but it is likely to be extended.

Let’s admit that we are feeling anxious. We want to see each other. We want to worship together. Online services are nice but it is not the same. It is okay for us grieve what we have (temporarily) lost.

While agreeing with all of that, the safety of our congregation is our first priority. We do not want to be the congregation that opens too soon and sees our people getting sick.

I can’t tell you when we will be back. And I would even say, that is not the most important question.

It is not so much when we will be back, as what will it look like when we are back. That is where my mental energy is going.

While I can’t say for sure what our first Sunday back will look like, I am confident that it won’t look even like our last Sunday before the pandemic.

Leadership is still looking at what it will look like. We have the advantage of being able to learn from churches in the United States that have already opened.

We will likely get certain guidelines from the Province of Ontario and suggestions from the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

But you get a say as well. If you are an attender of Queen Street Baptist Church, please fill out this short online survey. This information will help us to move forward wisely.
