Blue Christmas
One of the most meaningful parts of our Advent celebrations is the observance of Blue Christmas. This is a time where we acknowledge that there are people in our life that we wish were with us but are not. It is a time to bring our grief to God.
We have lost a number of people connected to our congregation over the past couple of months and so this is as important as it ever has been.
We do this by coming to the front, lighting candles and saying the name of the person we are grieving. Unfortunately, COVID-19 does not make that an advisable practice this year. We want to keep movement in the sanctuary to a minimum.
But we are still going to observe Blue Christmas.
This year we will just do it a bit different. Candles will still be lit and names will still be said.
But we will ask you to email Pastor Steve or phone into the church office the name (even just the first name) of someone you want remembered. Steve and Amanda will then light a candle during the service in memory of them.
The service will be on December 6, 2020. Please send those names in as soon as possible and let us support one another in our losses.
